The organizers of Aspen Gay Ski Week (AGSW) and presenting sponsor Bud Light, have announced dates and a schedule of events for their 2010 “Into the Woods” themed event taking place Sunday, January 17, 2010 through Sunday, January 24, 2010.

Established in 1976 by a small group of Aspen residents to host social events and organize educational forums, AGSW was the first of its kind and has served as both an inspiration and model for other gay ski weeks in ski towns across the nation. The event has morphed into a week-long celebration packed with events that include skiing, snowboarding, après ski parties, dining, shopping, comedy, a down-hill costume competition and more. “What started as a forum for the gay community has expanded to a week of premier skiing and outstanding entertainment for all. This year we are working with a new Board of Directors who have brought new ideas and innovative approaches to this historic event,“ said Peter Helburn, acting Executive Director for AGSW. Following this event Vail will be hosting a gay sking event (see previous posting).

In February it’s the Telluride Gay Ski Week

Telluride Gay Ski Week is going to be just a little bit different than other gay ski weeks; the experiences you will have here will be flavored by the ambience of the charming yet upscale Telluride, and the hip more urbane and European-style town of Mountain Village. We offer an unpretentious FUN week including an incredible array of events that will leave you with a smile on your face, new friends that have been made, and ready to return for more!

This year T-10 welcomes the Matthew Shepard Foundation as our new presenting sponsor with LOGO network returning as a major media sponsor.  They are joined by a host of new and returning sponsors which include the Telluride Mountain Village Owners Association, Chemstry.com, Singha Beer, Pravda Vodka, House Jams Wines, GLOSS Magazine, Passport Magazine, Pink Banana Media, IGLTA, the Peaks Resort and the Capella Telluride.

We have a full week of events and parties planned and we are once again offering a VIP T-Pass that includes entry into all of our official events*, exclusive discounts and a VIP gift bag…all for only $195. That is a value of over $300!

Ski Week Will Benefit LGBT Center

The organizers of Vail Gay Ski Week have announced that the Denver-based GLBT Community Center of Colorado (“The Center”) has been selected as the principal nonprofit beneficiary for the 2010 event scheduled for January 27 – 31, 2010.

Presented by Rocky Mountain Vacation Rentals, Vail Gay Ski Week will be working with The Center in a number of different areas promoting its event as part of the partnership that aims to raise $10,000 for The Center – Colorado’s only statewide GLBT community center.

“By raising these funds, we will help The Center reach its long-term goal of purchasing and renovating a new building in Denver,” said Tommy Z. Hoffman, founder and CEO of Vail Gay Ski Week.

The Angel Wings Benefit Dinner scheduled for Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, will be a key source of donations for The Center during the week. Tickets to the event start at $85 for Center members, $100 for non-members and $150 for VIP seating. For more information on the event or to purchase tickets or tables, contact Cali Adkisson at cali@vailgayskiweek.com or 970-790-6176.

“We are grateful to Vail Gay Ski Week for choosing us as its beneficiary. The Angel Wings dinner will raise critical funds to sustain unique and valuable programs through The Center, including Rainbow Alley, the only LGBT youth drop-in space in Denver,” said Carlos Martinez, executive director of the GLBT Community Center of Colorado. “We serve more than 6,000 youth every year through the support of the community and events like this dinner.”

Vail Gay Ski Week offers unique activities such as the Vail Splash Club (Vail’s version of the “Polar Bear Club”), Après Ski Socials, parties, and more. By removing the posh vibe and replacing it with a home-grown, local, and fun attitude that encompasses the “epic” experience that Vail provides, Vail Gay Ski Week is able to differentiate itself from other gay ski weeks. Vail is easily accessed from Denver and the Front Range, and offers its visitors five-star class with a three-star price tag. For the most up to date information, please go to Vail Ski Week.

The GLBT Community Center of Colorado is the only statewide, nonprofit community center dedicated to providing support and advocacy for Colorado’s gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) population. The Center serves as a catalyst for community organizing, support services, social activities, and cultural events. Social and support group events at the Center attract more than 2,000 people to the facility every month. The Center also offers meeting space for community organizations.
